Kdrama Review
Hometown Cha Cha Cha
Having a bad day? Watch this drama. Trust me.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha follows Yoon Hye Jin, a dentist looking to open her own dentistry practice and escape the frustrating stress of the career she had in Seoul. She meets the townspeople of her new seaside home including the local handyman, Hong Du Sik, who is affectionately known as Chief Hong. It is about growing and adjusting to a new lifestyle while also healing from the past.
With “escapism” literally built into the storyline (Yoo Hye Jin escaping to the seaside), it is easy to quickly fall in love with this charming drama. The quality of writing and acting pairs with the gorgeous ocean scenery to create the ultimate cozy drama. As you watch the main leads fall in love, you find yourself right there with them falling in love with the story, the town, and the characters.
Something I thought about frequently throughout this drama was how mature this love story is. It isn’t about high schoolers or people in their early twenties – it’s about adults who are pursuing their dreams and following their passions. This is one of the reasons this drama felt so refreshing and different. It is also one of the reasons why it makes this kdrama so cozy. Hometown Cha Cha Cha is added to my List of “Slow-Watch” Worthy Kdramas – a list of dramas that I think are best watched without a binge-watch sesh. I recommend taking your time to appreciate the charm of this drama one episode at a time.
The writing is fantastic and is executed by Shin Min Ah, Kim Seon Ho, and the rest of the cast perfectly. Add in the cinematography and you can tell how well the cast and crew worked as a team to produce this beautiful series. This drama is charming, it’s funny, it’s sad, it’s healing, it’s real. This drama is everything you want it to be and I highly recommend it.
p.s. the soundtrack you guys – I will always be in a better mood after I hear that “la la la romantic sundayyyyy…” ˚˖𓍢ִִ໋🌊🫧𓇼🔆✧˚
